I Know that this is a bit of an interesting format. I'm trying something new. Don't mistake this for changing my entire website, I'm still going to do actual reviews. I just had this idea to review life. I figured it may be beneficial to people going though something like what I've been through. Comment below for further advice on anything, and let me know how you like these. Just because I'm anonymous doesn't mean that you can't know anything about me, right?
Catholic School
I know many of you may not know what it's like to go to a private school. I like to think I know a lot about it since I've gone to a private, Catholic school for many years now. I'm about to graduate from it and finally go to a public school for high school . Just a disclaimer, I realize that Catholic schools may be different from non-religious private schools.
This is a horrible choice for your children until they identify to you personally telling you that they are and choose to be catholic or whatever religion it might be. I was put into this school at a young enough age that I didn't know a lot about religion. Personally, I think that beliefs are something that you always know, even if you don't know the names of the groups of people that believe the same things as you. It's kind of like how some people of different sexualities may say that they just always knew deep inside. Or how their parents may have known before they did because that is just shown in who they are. (I'm a free person who enjoys their freedom and hate the boundaries of the catholic church, but respect them and all Catholics.) This is why you should let your children decide for themselves what they believe instead of forcing your own religion on them or sending them somewhere daily to be brainwashed. BRAINWASHED. You may think that that's an exaggeration. It's not. Here's the dictionary.com definition of brainwashing:
"any method of controlled systematic indoctrination, especially one based on repetition or confusion"
Repetition was commonly used as a technique for brainwashing at my school. Every morning we had to repeat the 'mission statement' which I still have memorized. "At ******* ****** Catholic School we believe that jesus is present, know the importance of our catholic faith, and strive for spiritual growth and academic excellence." We also were required to memorize prayers to pray them three times a day, and go to mass every Friday. We had religion class every day in which you were punished with bad grades if you didn't memorize this faith or even answered no on a question like "Is god always with us?". Individuality was taken from students by forcing them wear uniforms. On Fridays the girls had to wear a blouse, a plaid skirt, and a tie, but boys only had to wear a button down and a tie. If a girl forgot her skirt and wore the same thing as the boys, she had to call someone to bring her a skirt. If this happened three times, she got detention. Just for wearing the same things as the boys. Detention for a young girl could be very stressful, and/or traumatizing. Would they punish her for not being in uniform (,even though she was uniform with the boys,) or non-conformity?
"A method for systematically changing attitudes or altering beliefs, originated in totalitarian countries, especially through the use of psychological-stress techniques. "
